Việt Nam condoles over death of Russian envoy to Turkey

President Trần Đại Quang yesterday sent a message of condolence to Russian President Vladimir Putin over the assassination of the nation’s Ambassador to Turkey Andrey Karlov.

HÀ NỘI – President Trần Đại Quang yesterday sent a message of condolence to Russian President Vladimir Putin over the assassination of the nation’s Ambassador to Turkey Andrey Karlov. 

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Phạm Bình Minh also cabled condolences to Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. 

Ambassador Andrey Karlov was murdered while he was speaking at the Cagdas Sanatlar Merkezi, a major art exhibition hall in Ankara’s Cankaya District on Monday. 

Also yesterday, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Lê Hải Bình said Việt Nam strongly condemned the assassination.

"We would like to extend our deepest condolences to the Russian Government and people as well as the family of Ambassador Andrey Karlov. We believe that the criminals will be punished duly," he said. – VNS
