HÀ NỘI — Party General Secretary Nguyễn Phú Trọng yesterday called for Việt Nam and Cuba to continue enhancing the efficiency of co-operation in various fields.
In a reception for outgoing Cuban ambassador Herminio Lopez Diaz in Hà Nội yesterday, the Parader expected the two countries to closely work together at multilateral forums, further developing bilateral ties.
On the occasion, the Parader offered sympathies to Cuba on the losses caused by Hurricane Irma.
For his part, Ambassador Diaz said he was delighted with recent positive steps in the relationship between Việt Nam and Cuba, particularly relations between the two Parties as well as co-operation in economy, investment, agriculture, healthcare, defence, security, and people-to-people exchanges.
Lauding Việt Nam’s sharing of theoretical and practical issues related to the đổi mới(renewal) cause, Diaz said Việt Nam–Cuba ties were pure and loyal, and a relationship rarely seen.
He committed to making further contributions to bilateral ties in whichever position he holds in the future. — VNS
